A highlight for me during the pandemic? Discovering the music of Lake Street Dive.

Lake Street Dive is a multi-genre band that formed in 2004 at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. The band's founding members are Rachael Price (vocals) , Mike "McDuck" Olson (trumpet and guitar), Bridget Kearney (bass), and Mike Calabrese (drums). Keyboardist Akie Bermiss joined the band on tour in 2017 and was first credited on their 2018 album Free Yourself Up. The band is based in Brooklyn. McDuck left the band in June 2021 (sigh).

Back in 2011, Lake Street Dive recorded their first live album at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Sadly, time travel is not possible. However, you can listen to this live album on YouTube Music. And I have included a video from the set – "You Go Down Smooth" – below. Check it out!

If you don't know Lake Street Dive, you are in for a treat!
