Formaggio Kitchen has been an institution in Cambridge, Massachusetts for over 40 years – a gourmand’s paradise doubling as a neighborhood grocer. The beloved shop is best known for its selection of gourmet cheese. It also carries many fine wines and specialty groceries.

For years, the flagship Formaggio Kitchen operated at its original location at 244 Huron Avenue, just beyond the big bend in Huron Ave, in a storefront near Appleton Street. I have many happy memories of visiting this Formaggio's, which was also was home to Hallie's Garden for fresh flowers.

In March 2021, Formaggio relocated to 358 Huron Avenue, in the former Fresh Pond Market. Having shopped at Fresh Pond Market for over 30 years, I find it somewhat surreal to be in the same space now reinvented. For sure, with all the renovations, it doesn't feel like Fresh Pond Market. I like popping in at lunch for a prepared sandwich when I am in the neighborhood on real estate showings.

I am also fortunate to live a short walk from Formaggio Kitchen Kendall, the Formaggio outpost outside Kendall Square on Hampshire Street. Great to be able to count on finding a fresh baguette and a Florentine here.

Formaggio is one of those gems that makes me happy to call Cambridge home.

Meet me at Formaggio in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
